Live Show Recap: Melanie Martinez

The arena was packed full of excited fans, dressed up in different characters from all the eras of the popular singer/songwriter, Melanie Martinez. Outside, there was an everlasting line of dressed-up fans of all different ages, hyped to see the singer as well. The crowd roared and screamed in excitement as the lights went down and an eerie lullaby with visuals played, signaling the singer’s original character, Cry Baby. Her dancers rose from the floor wearing frilly Victorian baby clothing and enlarged bunny masks.

The visuals started to display a Toy Story-like pink baby room and out came the whimsical artist. The singer overlooked the crowd, appearing to be like a small toy in a rocking chair as she performed songs from her debut album, Cry Baby. Fans loudly shouted lyrics to her popular hits like "Pity Party," "Carousel," and "Soap." The show was divided into three acts, portraying all her albums, Cry Baby, K-12, and Portals. Each act, the stage set was changed to fit the theme/characters from her albums with a number of costume changes as well.

Overall, the singer delivered a magical, colorful, and creative performance that truly showed and immersed fans in all of her past and present eras of her musical journey.
