Weekly Roundup

Roundup by Carson Huffer

It's All Fake Anyway by rainbow frog biscuits

Bright indie-pop styling carries the newest rainbow frog biscuits track “It’s All Fake Anyway”. Playing on the common societal joke of our lives actually being a simulation, the lyricism of this track treats daily life like a game where the small things in life truly don’t matter enough to dwell on. “It’s All Fake Anyway” is impossibly fun and raucous in its lackadaisical outlook on life, and you can’t help but smile along with each line from rainbow frog biscuits.

The Good Parts by JP Saxe

“The Good Parts” finds JP Saxe recognizing the truths of an ending relationship, including a remembrance of the moments of love. This track holds a heartfelt tone as Saxe looks back, and in doing so, finds a healthy balance by letting go of a person within villainizing or over romanticizing them in the aftermath. This is one of Jp Saxe’s most vulnerable tracks yet, and for those on a journey of healing and growth, “The Good Parts” is a must listen.

Going Nowhere by Aasma

Holding onto the bliss and happiness that comes with love for someone else, Aasma’s latest single “Going Nowhere” is a triumphant and beautiful indie folk that you need to hear. “Going Nowhere” is the first single off of Aasma’s upcoming album Campfire, and if this track is anything to go off of, this Swedish singer is about to take over the indie scene.

Ricochet by New Friends

Firmly in the clutches of a lover who isn’t being clear about their desires, New Friends have exploded into indie pop perfection with their newest single “Ricochet”. The Ontario-based trio has been building up to their upcoming EP Camaro, and with such sweet instrumentation to juxtapose the relatable emotional confusion of their lyricism, I recommend hopping onto the New Friends train before they explode.

Gonna Be Alright by Annie Elise

Annie Elise’s newest lo-fi pop single “Gonna Be Alright” is laced with desire for not just a relationship but the stability that comes with it. The synth within this 2:15 burst of a track creates an immersive soundscape meant for late night drives and poorly harbored crushes. If you’re struggling with the back and forth of desire, “Gonna Be Alright” was made for you!
