Single Review: Hold It Against Me by Butterfly Haus

Review by Isabelle Turner

A voice of comfort and self awareness, Butterfly Haus is here with a captivating single “Hold It Against Me (ft. Rosarii)”.

The Brooklyn-based artist, known as Osaze Akerejah, started creating original music in the late 2000s but began releasing music as Butterfly Haus just this year. He released his debut album, Origins Compilation, this past April, kicking his career off strong. Incorporating pop, rock, and folk elements, the rising artist continues to expand his sound through his latest single.

“Hold It Against Me” is emotional, telling the story of a hospital stay after a cancer diagnosis. The mesmerizing vocals and instrumentals are stunning. Rosarii’s background vocals glide beautifully within the piece, enhancing his vocals. Their voices compliment each other perfectly, creating a chill-inducing record. Intimate, poetic and heartfelt, Butterfly Haus opens the track with the phrase:

“Because music is emotion, it’s feeling, it’s flying, it's spirit…”

Using these lyrics to fuel the single’s message, Akerjah has created a beautiful track that is vulnerable and healing. With “Hold It Against Me”, Butterfly Haus has proven that his authenticity and talent is going to get the rising artist far.
